Out of Chaos; Ben Uri: 100 Years in London

This exhibition celebrates Ben Uri’s centenary. A registered charity and specialist art museum that addresses the central issues surrounding the notions of identity and migration. The show explores 100 years of émigré history through the display of masterpieces from their vast 1,300 artwork collection. The charity has emerged from and represents the Jewish community.

Ladybird by Design

House of Illustration

Featuring over 120 original illustrations from classic Ladybird book titles, this exhibition celebrates Ladybird’s centenary. Renown for their specially commissioned illustrations in conjunction with quality writing, Ladybird books is a family favourite. The exhibition includes iconic images, rare photographs and correspondences.

Adam Broomberg & Oliver Chanarin: Bouffon

ICA Studio

Opening 3 – 9 August 2015

Part of ICA’s continuing series titled ‘Fig-2’ which showcases fifty projects in fifty weeks, Bouffon is a live performance by South African artist Adam Broomberg and British artist Oliver Chanagrin. The performance interrogates the landscape surrounding the ICA Studio, looking at the monuments and structures that display state power. In a satirical and humorous manner, the artists invite a ‘bouffon’ into the studio, equipped with green screen technology, the performance eventually merges with footage of the changing of the guards and other military ceremonies.

Fashion on the Ration: 1940s Street Style

Tiger, Mog and Pink Rabbit: A Judith Kerr Retrospective

An exhibition celebrating the acclaimed work of Judith Kerr. Her classic children’s picture books are influenced by the author’s experience as a child refugee fleeing Nazi Germany. The exhibition features over eighty years of original artworks and illustrations by one of Britain’s best loved authors.

Soldiers and Suffragettes: The Photography of Christina Broom

Regarded as the UK’s first female press photographer, Christina Broom held a pioneering spirit with relentless creativity. Her camera was her method of documenting the streets, capturing thousands of images of people and events in London, offering a unique observation on the city at the start of the 20th Century. The exhibition showcases many images never before seen on public display and is the first ever exhibition solely dedicated to Broom. It includes prints and original glass plate negatives, as well as the picture postcards of London that brought her significant commercial success.
