White Li(n)es by Bart Lodewijks
Whitechapel Gallery
Opened 9 December 2014 – 8 March 2015

White Li(n)es studies the act of drawing as a field for social dialogue. By working with young people, Lodewijks’ project faces art with an educational agenda. His drawings, typically on the facades of buildings and other urban areas, converse with communities and psychogeographic environments.

A Year at the Stedelijk: Tino Sehgal
Stedelijk Museum
January – December 2015

Under the new directorate of Beatrix Ruf, the Stedelijk Museum celebrates the career of German/British artist Tino Sehgal in a 12 month review of his work. This show continues the Stedelijk Museum’s focus on conceptual art, looking at Sehgal’s departure from the conventions of material experimentation to what he likes to call ‘Situations’ – live interaction of individuals through space and time. This year long retrospective is set to exhibit a different section of Sehgal’s oeuvre per month in a transformative programme that will mark the beginning of Beatrix Ruf’s legacy at the Stedelijk.

Şahin Kaygun
Istanbul Museum of Modern Art
November 20 2014 – February 15 2015

Şahin Kaygun is the featured artist at the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art. One of the pioneering artists to have pushed the envelope of interdisciplinary photography in Turkey. Beginning with his early 1980’s experimental interventions with photography, this retrospective follows his career spotlighting his practice of adding multi-media manipulations on to his photographs. His experience as a graphic arts student lent itself to Kaygun’s principle that he doesn’t ‘take’ photographs but in fact ‘makes’ them.
